Socrates said that at his trial for heresy, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” His “sin” against society was for encouraging his students to challenge the accepted beliefs of the time and think for themselves!!! He was found guilty and put to death.
Luckily, we don’t have to choose between an examined life and death. I have found that folks who do examine their lives, who think about where they’ve been, how they got here, and where they’re going, are much happier people.
No one has all the answers. And no one’s life is free from trouble, strife, or sin. One reason we avoid examining our lives is because we do not want to confront our sins.
Worship is a great time to examine your life, confront your sin, and then give it to God!
