On this Father’s Day weekend, DON’T WAIT. Much of our time is spent waiting: In a line at the post office; For an elevator; For a loved on to deal with an addiction; For a plumber to show up; For that special someone to propose; For fresh concrete to harden before driving on it; To go swimming after eating; To retire; Before seeing a doctor; For your team to win a championship; Before moving my adult children out of the house:
But how LONG should you wait? I don’t know. I can’t answer the question of how long to wait for many things in life.
But in terms of relationships, it is better now to wait sometimes. If you haven’t called dad, call him. If your dad has died, call someone whose love and guidance has helped you. NOW is always the right time to say, “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, or “You are forgiven”. Don’t wait. Call. Write. Visit.
