I went spelunking this week. It was not deep within a dark cave; I would have loved that. No, it was a caving of a different sort – quarterly tax day. I wondered aloud, “Where are the tax forms?” Behind a wall of cardboard boxes, an answer and a warning came: “They are in the spare bedroom closet…good luck with that.” Now, I must confess that the “spare bedroom” has been our “dump” room in this move. Don’t know what to do with a box? “Shove it in the spare bedroom,” has been the answer each and every time. I should also point out that the spare bedroom is the only one without an overhead light or lamp. It was night time, thus, it is dark in the closet of said room. With a flashlight in one hand, I stormed the citadel squeezing through the catacombs of boxes and years of valuable junk. After much work, I made it to the file cabinet containing the buried treasure. But alas, the pirates who hid this booty had one last trick up their puffy shirt sleeves: old forms from past years had been piled high and deep on top of the needed form. With great dedication, I preserved. My prize? I got to write a check. Now, “does anyone have a pen?”
